FIRST AID AND REFRESHER TRAINING

The 12-hour course is organized in accordance with the contents of Legislative Decree 81/08 and subsequent amendments and additions, which requires the employer to inform workers about procedures regarding first aid (Article 36, paragraph 1, letter B). The purpose of the course is to provide safety staff with knowledge of first-aid maneuvers to be performed in specific situations of illness, in order to ensure the best possible outcome of the subsequent medical intervention.

The course contents are as follows:

  • first aid (duties of the first aider; useless or harmful actions);

  • the equipment of the first-aid attendant;

  • self-protection from rescue-related risks;

  • management of medical emergencies and the chain of survival (calling for help, gathering information, when to move a patient);

  • anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems;

  • cardiopulmonary arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation;

  • obstruction caused by accidental ingestion of a foreign body;

  • the ABCDE assessment of the trauma patient;

  • trauma;

  • skin and mucous membrane wounds;

  • amputation;

  • thoracoabdominal trauma and injuries;

  • hemorrhages;

  • main syndromes of medical interest;

  • early disturbances of consciousness (fainting and syncope);

  • workplace-related conditions;

  • emergency transport.

The refresher course lasts 4 hours.
